About The Ranch

WILLIAMS & MARTIN RANCH

Williams & Martin Ranch is a family-run cow/calf operation located south of Johnstown. It spans 8,000 acres of rolling prairie sandhills, meadows, lakes, with plentiful wildlife. Founded in 1893 and nestled in the northern Nebraska Sandhills, this ranch is a testament to generations of hard work and commitment to the land.

Kevin and Jennifer, own and operate Williams & Martin Ranch and are deeply committed to a way of life that combines profitability and stewardship. Their core values remain rooted in family, hard work, and respect for the land. They prioritize leaving the land in better condition and ensuring management practices benefit not just the livestock but also the people and wildlife that rely on it, striving to pass down the way of life and the ranch to future generations.

Calving season begins in March, and small groups of calves are branded at a week old throughout. Heifers are AI-bred in June, and bulls are tested and put out. The Martin's put up the ranch's hay, and part of the summer is busy servicing equipment and haying. The rest of the summer is busy taking care of livestock, managing pastures, monitoring water, cedar control, and infrastructure maintenance. Additionally, weaning occurs in late summer, and the Martins then background their calves, transitioning them into a feeding program that prepares them for future growth and market readiness. The Martin's are excited to welcome an intern and teach them all about what they do! They can’t wait to pass on their knowledge and experiences, and share all aspects of their operation.
